Titanium Man:

it was a 3d flight combat simulator
i remember it was free
the graphics were extremely old and pixely
the flight physics were realistic
and you could do missions and stuff

anyone heard/know of something like this

In the History channel Kuma games thing there was one called Dogfights. It probably isn't what you were looking for.
