Why would anyone need $400,000 just to make a game? Is it so they can pay the developers and programmers who are working on this game?

$400,000 = don't need any job = more time for working on game

The developers personal life is irrelevant considering how they've gained $400,000 so far, these donations are suppose to go to the game; not their kids, homes, mortgages, or food.
