Author Topic: Banned from Cysero's medieval RP for no reason  (Read 5012 times)

I actually agree. The rule is unnecessary. So what if you want to be Link or someone else, big whoop.

I haven't understood this rule since I saw it from Bluzone. Maybe someone can explain it to me?

They want you to be original and make your own character instead of being Link or some other video game character, or perhaps a character that exists/existed in real life. Or someone from a movie/tv show.

It's not that hard. RPing is about your imagination and if you lack the imagination to create your own name and your own character, this is obviously not the server for you.

I see your point, but does not being creative enough really resort to a full permanent ban?

By reading the rules???

People who cannot take a minute to read the rules are not the kind of people anyone would want on their server.
It sounds like you can be banned before you even read the rules.

A kick/warning would work better than a ban.

I agree mostly. You are right: a permanent ban is probably too extreme. But on the other hand, why can't people just read the rules and deal with them? Like seriously, why do people think they are an exception for when it comes to following rules?

Still, a permanent ban is too extreme. It should go from a warning to a kick or something. But if they keep coming back and still keep breaking the rules, I see no problem with permanently banning them.

I'm pretty sure that you spawn in an area with a sign in front of you that says "rules". Not sure how you could miss that.

Well yes, of course if they keep doing that, a ban is definitely in order.

But what about if they are loading the server files and have not spawned yet, only coming for the first time there ever? How would they know?

This was pretty much what I was asking.

Yeah, I guess the admin should give a warning then. Like I said before(also please don't misinterpret this as me trying to justify the actions of these people): it really depends on what admin it is. Some are really strict and will ban insanely quick and some are mild and give warnings like normal responsible admins.

I strongly dislike the strict admins. Permabanning for not reading the rules is way too extreme, especially since you could accidentally break a rule before being able to read them like you guys said.

Not only do the admins ban for such reasons, they also never include new players for a while. I guess its rare to see new players immerse themselves with the admins. I'm not saying its constant though.

I agree with the ban somewhat, a permanent ban is a little bit too much. A name like "Isaac Clark" should be fine whilst "Master Chief," I personally would ban if I saw Master Chief. No, actually, from hosting experience, I always give users a stuffton of time to fix themselves. Then all my friends/admins start asking to ban him because I keep him there. My admins never ban unless I say they can. :l
Bottom line is:
This ban was wrong and should be lifted for another chance.

I think this ban is fine.
The server was supposed to be a roleplay and if you are too thick to use your imagination and think of an original name (Especially when it is in the rules.) you deserve to be banned.

Not really. You don't deserve to be banned to act as one of your favorite characters.

Yes you do. It shows you don't have creativity, can't read the server rules that are RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, and it also breaks the experience for other users. It's one thing to have a name from Skyrim or some other medieval game, but to use a name from a sci-fi horror game is just stupid.

you honestly think a perma ban is correct in that situation? No.

Because the name "Isaac Clark" sounds like its definitely from the future. It sounds like an every day name and if I were to use my real name it would sound like a Russian terrorist.

I think it's the host's decision if he wants to spend time putting up with morons.
People often get upset from being banned from servers like Winterbite and Bluzone because of the strict admins but the problem is that you wont get banned if you aren't an idiot.

How is making a name that may or may not relate to a video game character being an idiot? Is it ruining the entire game that my name in the RP was one that was a video game character? One that doesn't even stand out and that any normal person can have with no knowledge of the said video game character?
