Half-Life 2 keeps updating whenever I try to play it.

Okay, so I got onto Steam and tried to play Half Life 2, it was updating, okay, so i let it update, then Episode Two began updating, then Episode one, when they were all done I tried playing HL2 again and it began updating, so i think "Okay, probably coincidental.."

When it finishes, I try playing Garry's Mod to try playing the Half Life 2 maps, but it doesn't have them on there, I check and see that half Life 2 and all the episodes are enabled, but none of the maps are on there, so I try playing Half Life 2 again and it "updates" AGAIN.

What's going on with it? Anybody else having this problem?

Delete local content and reinstall. That's my best solution. If that doesn't work, contact Steam.

Okay, i've also realized that whenever I try to play HL2, at the start it says "Syncing" then starts the download

Contacted Steam Support yesterday, they haven't replied yet.

I also deleted the local content for Half life 2 and redownloaded, but it seems that that didn't do anything at all.

Also, i got onto Gary's Mod to play the HL2 maps, but none of them were there, not even the episodic maps, and i've disabled then reenabled the game content on the games menu, but it doesn't work, and the Hunter which I tried to spawn from the NPC menu in Gmod, it was just an "ERROR" sign.
