Meh, no offense intended (and this may and probably will change with the release of RTB2), but the RTB forums have sucked since the release of retail.

Well building is still taking place when you use BMP2SCRIPT, but only the original image could be considered art. Re-creating that image in-game just makes it a copy.

Depends on the definition of 'worthy'.

See, Trader's an amazingly pro builder (perhaps even the best in Blockland history!) so his definition of worthy in terms of being able to post in the gallery is high, so he doesn't think pixel art should be allowed at all... while on the other hand I appreciate pixel art and I see and respect all builds for the effort put into them, so I believe there are some builds that should and some that shouldn't be worthy of being in the Gallery.

Yeah but pixel art is only a show of drawing (only if it's original), and it doesn't belong in the gallery because it requires no skills in building to make it. It's unfair to the rest of people who actually spend their skills building something, rather than wasting their time on some pixel art, which requires no skills from building whatsoever. It is NOT a show of talent, therefor, does not need to be in the gallery, which is where people show their talent off.

Instead, it needs to be taken somewhere else, where drawing or other forms of art like that are acceptable. Deviant art for example, would be an appropriate place for pixel art. And it's only worth it ANYWHERE if it's an original drawing. Pixel art is 0% skill of any kind when you copy another drawing (even if the drawing was NOT in pixel form).

So there you have it. You can still try to argue with it, but I can assure you that most of all the long time players will agree that pixel art in itself is not worthy of being in the gallery.

Pixel has been said about, 50+ times in this topic. It's even the title. It comes up at the top of the browser, yet you still spell it wrong. Shame on you.

Anyways, I don't think pixel art is building, half of the time its a macro that came from BMP2script. It's 1x1 spam.

Another thing I don't understand, is that you don't call it building, but art? So what, when someone makes a server for pixel art when they build it's called "arting"? Doesn't make sense, "hey don't clear yet, im still arting!" it's still technically a build, no one set a rule saying "If you can't go inside of it, it isn't something built with blokos" >.>

I don't know why you consider my opinion to be less valid than that of other participants in this discussion. The question posed is "Is pixel art worthy of being posted in the gallery?". My answer is no. The point that has been made by many others is that pixel art entails only the stacking of 1x1s and the painting of them. Just because I'm not one who spends a great deal of time building, it doesn't mean that I am unable to appreciate good builds. Next time, I'd like to see more genuine discussion, and less sarcasm.
