The same way "Google it!" just means to look something up, even if you use Bing or Yahoo.

The way Xerox means to copy, but Xerox is a brand name.

It's kind of how like in some places "Coke" is a blanket term for soda in general.

I use Paint.NET.
I haven't tried Gimp but I guess people like it.

I use Gimp, bit the UI can be cumbersome at times, IMO. I do suggest trying it though.
