Most certainly not.
The IllumiRoom seems to work on not only a flat wall.
Second of all, it extends the field around what you see instead of extending what you see.
It's not the same at all.

although it shouldn't be too much trouble to just find a flat wall

Ugh. I hate this.

When im playing games, I play them ON the tv. It would do nothing but annoy me.

2 things: it's made to be immersive technology, and it's also optional.
If you don't want it, you wouldn't have to get it.
