the reason ms are doing it is so you cant sell off your kinect separately, so anyone trying to buy it second hand (if theirs broke or if they want one for their pc) can't and has to buy new, thus earning ms more money
if you honestly think they're gonna spy on you you're obviously to paranoid, as i'm pretty sure that sort of thing is illegal
you could always just turn your internet off if you're that paranoid

I will say, watching that video Freeze linked, I'm not sure just how many people they could have let in on Xbox One to develop in time for an announcement of the console itself. As horrible as it sounds, I want to wait until the game development picks up and then laugh at how horrible the games seem.

anyone who has ever used the facebook app on a smartphone has agreed to allow facebook to take pictures of you with your phone and record your voice with your phone at will. without you knowing.
kinda a coincidence since facebook just bought out some company that made a bunch of fancy face recognition software.
an xbox watching you is far less creepy.

They named it Xbox One so people won't see Xbox 3 vs PS4 and think the Xbox is a generation behind.
