Maps Are NOT coming back- Stop posting topics asking for them back

Pages: << < (5/7) > >>

Abstract:

Don't lose complete hope on maps and shaders! We can possibly get them back, I have an old friend on Blockland who is very experienced with Torque and has been working on the problem for many months now, and is slowly making progress! Not going to release his name for his own sake. You'll get to know him when he solves the problem and makes a post (in 5 months) about it or something. I'm not one to lie, but if you don't believe me, so be it.

I really doubt he'll get far but hope for terrain should not be forfeited.

Well, let's begin.
Maps are not coming back because doing so with shaders would be uncompatible with the maps, which would most likely cause the game to crash.
"But can't he just code it so that it's compatible"
He could, but this version of torque is rrrrrealy outdated.
"Then lets get a new torque version"
If we do this, blockland would have so much down-time for maintenance tons of users would leave, because you dont simply get a new version. It would take a lot of time to get all of the features of blockland into the new torque engine, and all of the add-ons would probably need to be recoded, which is not likely for the majority of add-on makers.
"Lets ditch Torque then"
You cant just ditch Torque. Again, like I said in the previous paragraph:
"If we do this, blockland would have so much down-time for maintenance tons of users would leave, because you dont simply get a new engine. It would take a lot of time to get all of the features of blockland into the new engine, and all of the add-ons would probably need to be recoded, which is not likely for the majority of add-on makers."
So please stop posting these topics, and please link users who continue posting these topics to this thread.
