The zombies are just horribly made and clunky because well it's Arma and it wasn't made to realistically simulate melee combat in any shape or form. Hunting / killing players is far more engaging than all of that other nonsense you have to deal with. Dayz can become very boring so quickly if you aren't playing with friends.
But on the other hand every game becomes far more enjoyable when you are playing it with friends.

yes... realistic
in an actual zombie apocalypse, I'm willing to bet more people will die because of other humans than the zombies
and zombies in real life would also be really easy to deal with once you have enough gear / have a team / know how to avoid them properly

and are you seriously implying that the players and their hacks determine the realism of a game?
