Plexious:
It doesn't matter who started the argument.
It does matter who is going to stop it.
So which one of you is going to be mature enough to drop it?

1) continue arguing with cunts who can't argue without personal attacks
2) stop arguing and provide content to the thread

I chose 2. I tried to be the better man, but there's no way to win with you guys.

it's like calling a bunch of people mondays and then trying to converse normally with them afterwards lol

My opinion on donating is that it's helpful to the host of the server.
Whether the player is running the server off of their own network or running it off of Kaphost or RTB or something, it's still nice to donate.
If they're running it off of a desktop computer, the money can perhaps go toward getting smoother internet speed so there's less lag.
If they're using a hosting service, the money can perhaps go toward keeping the server up and running.

Just save $2 a week or for 3 weeks or something and bam. The only game id see fit to donate would be monecraft servers since those servers are actually expensive like $15-$20 a month.

You see, people like you tick me off.
The donations don't only go toward the hosting of the server, they also go toward the host himself.
The host doesn't have to host the server.  They could shut it down whenever they like.
Donating to them not only pays for the server, but shows appreciation.  It's kind of like a thank you.

--- Quote from: LeetZero on May 26, 2013, 09:20:45 AM ---Regarding the last point, a donation is a donation. I hate people who give features for donating.
That's not donating. That's simply paying for features.
Donating should be done out of sole likelihood of the server.
It's like giving money to a hobo and expecting him to give you a free car.

People like you also tick me off.
Again, the donations do not only go toward the server, they also go to the host directly as a thank you.
As a token of appreciation, the person who donated the money is given special features.
And no, technically you're not paying for extra features.
If you only want features, you're probably only going to donate one penny and get away with it.
However, that's why most of the time to get "VIP" you have to donate fifteen or more.
Only someone who really loves the server and is truly donating from the heart will donate that much.
Even I wouldn't pay that much simply to get a few extra features.

Somewhat off topic here:

Kalphiter, please stop yelling at everyone.
Just because you hate RTB doesn't mean that you always have to rage every post Ephialtes makes.
Just shut up, go about your business and let Ephialtes go about his.
RTB is not a required feature, therefore it's nothing you have to complain about.

It's a wonder how your computer doesn't just explode with all the stuff you post.

P.S.  Don't flame me for bringing this off topic again.  I now declare this argument over.  If you quote me and try to go continue the argument, it only proves that you can't just deal with it.
quadilious:
i believe that the only time a gameplay changing feature is okay for donation is if its single player or the gameplay doesnt revolve around other players

You just contradicted yourself. If you want to get "VIP" you need to pay a special amount. What's the difference between that and simply just buying it?
I really hate your given arguments. Sure, it's a way to show appreciation to the host. But he doesn't need to give you special features for it that intrigue you into donating, which is mostly the bloody point of those features to begin with. Just as example if I donate to an orphanage I don't get anything. At the very least if I give a substantial donation I eventually get a name somewhere. But I don't receive the key to the orphanage or any powers in it. A title or even decorational is just fine, as long as it's not used for bragging. Special weaponry? Gameplay-affecting bonuses? Going level aheads of others? Special access to something gameplay related other users don't have? No.
