I try to avoid giving people my number because then they'll start texting me. Inevitably. I'm a lot more tolerant of face-to-face conversation than conversation through text. And don't even get me started on Xbox Live chat.

Signatures, xD, numbers in place of words (2, 4, 1 , 8, etc.), exclamation points, CAPS LOCK, and simple messages that I can't respond to ("hey", "k", "lol", etc.) are all things that I can't stand when people text me.

Boys and girls. We also chat in Japanese, sometimes, but you get the point.

In steam chat (because I do not have a phone), I chat to my irl friends and acquaintances with proper grammar and big words so I look big brained and stuff.
With Sket, close friends, and a few others, I chat in all lowercase (with the exception of proper I's).
I will also do mostly lowercase in games unless there's strangers/upper class gamers around.

The one thing I hate about texting is when the other person uses "u" instead of taking the time to type out "you" like a normal person, or when they abbreviate stuff. Generally whenever people try to loving shorten their sentences, or use text speak, or other things like that.
Although the one thing I generally do that pisses me of is I forget to put periods at the end of my sentences, it really loving annoying but I can't stop doing it.
I never text differently to different genders.
