Server Issues -- People Unable to Connect
Vateni:
I tried hosting a server yesterday. After about an hour of building by myself, I started to wonder: "Are people not joining ? or are they unable to join ?"
I asked in RTB's global chat if somebody could try connecting. Eventually, somebody said they would.
They told me that when connecting, it gave them the message "Connecting to [My IP Here]" but they weren't able to get on.
Is this just a problem with my ISP ? Or is there something I can do to fix this ?
Altiris:
Did you port forward? There is a guide on the Support section on the main website.
otto-san:
an easier solution would be to check your router's settings page and see if it has an option for UPnP. turning that on will allow you to host as well if you don't want to port forward.
WALDO:
Make sure you are telling Blockland to use UPnP if you don't want to port forward. To turn UPnP on, go to the main menu of Blockland, click on the options button, click on the Network tab, then make sure the "Disable UPnP" box is unchecked. Once you make sure that the "Disable UPnP" box is unchecked, click done and host your server. If you are still having problems, post your console.log below so we can help you out further.
Vateni:
Hey, I have unchecked "disable UPnP" in Blockland, however people are still unable to join
Console.log is attached.
I think this is due to my router having UPnP disabled.
I would have gotten into the router and enabled UPnP, had I know the password...
After talking to with my parents about the password, they say that they're worried about our wireless getting slowed down by people connecting to my server, and about the well-being of my computer.
So that leaves it to you, forum.
If people are able to connect to my server, will it slow down my wireless ? If so, how much ?
And is it possible for someone to move any form of file from their computer to mine (through Blockland, of course) ?
Thanks in advance.
