Ok where do I start with this one...
First: Magneto could have use his helmet as a weapon.
Second: Even if Magneto was arrested, those cars and all of the police accessories could prove useful.
Finally: Why would the police even bring metal in the first place. They should know he's magneto and he could easily turned their vehicles and weapons against them.
