Author Topic: Is it safe to plug in a HDD after there already is one in?  (Read 1683 times)

Hit start, right click Computer, click Manage. Click Disk Management on the left, right click one of the partitions of the drive and click Extend Volume.
I don't quite remember what appears after that, but it should be pretty straight forward.

Delete all the volumes on the disk then make a new partition.

Can you put hot water in cold water?
I hate people who answer questions this way.

Can you go drown yourself?

so can I just turn off my computer, plug it in with SATA and the Power Supply, and just turn it on and see it mounted :S?
Yeah, it should be fine. But if you want to set up a RAID array or something more complicated, you might need additional hardware like a RAID card or something. If you're just going to use it as a backup drive or extra storage, you should be fine as is.

Holy stuff it worked!

thankie

I also have a question about hard drives, if a bit Off topic

If i bought an external HDD, could I plug that into a USB hub and it'd work fine, or do I have to plug it directly into a port?
It would most definitely work however depending on what standard your Motherboard/USB hub/Hard Drive are all using will probably be slow.
If it's all USB 3 then it'll be nice and zippy though.

I have...

1x 1TB HDD
2x 500GB HDD
3x 250GB HDD
1x 80GB HDD

1x 150GB SSD

3x 1TB External
1x 2TB External

Currently in use:
1x 500GB
1x 2TB External.

:) logic

i want the 1 tb one
