Well, I hate to be the odd man out here, but I think you're a little off on your assessment.
First of all, I'd rather see an ad like this than an ad for Joy dishwashing detergent. Secondly, the video has received close to 8 million views, in two months...so someone likes it. Given the curiosity you inspired (and I am in the music biz), I pulled what is called a SoundScan report on the song...two million copies sold in the last MONTH, worldwide (downloads, doesn't even include the physical sales that Walmart now distributes).
So, is it the best song on the planet? No. But, it is baseball season, the Red Sox are hot right now, William Shatner is the home plate umpire, and Brian Evans is a big band singer (completely different style of music than most of us listen to, think Sinatra) and is from Boston. I don't see anything wrong with his label promoting the guy, and as another posted states, just pass the thing after 5 seconds. How bored are you in life that you even care about this. Try turning on CNN and worrying about bigger issues in the world than this guys big band song.
He's likely laughing all the way to the bank anyway, and you know what Katt Williams says about haters...
