Sarcasm or not, that's exactly my point.

Sheriff Lucas Simms was nice to have around for aesthetics. The only reason I kept him around was because I wanted Fawkes and because I didn't want Megaton raping me in the starfish with weapons.

The "Radio guy" Herbert Dashwood and Argyle were nice to listen to on the radio with their stories, but that was it. I could kill him and not give one forget.

Hannibal Hamlin (The guy with the slave refuge) was somebody who didn't even matter. The ending slideshow never mentioned him, and he's an encounter you have to find on your own, so he's not important at all.

The adoption guy in Megaton (Who's name I have yet to remember) was simply there to give you a feeling that the game was alive. The most feeling any place had was Megaton and the Vault because those are you first two usual locations, so you might aswell get a taste of what they focused on in the world rather than what they didn't.

I think I have Fallout 1 downloaded, but never played it

Fallout 3 has more fond memories with me than New Vegas, but if you want my honest opinion, get Fallout 2 and stick to the ones made around that time.
