I lag servers when I join, and it is really becoming a problem. (Please Help)

Basically the whole ordeal is that the server lags when I connect. I am pretty unsure as to what to do. People complain to me about it. I don't know what causes it, and people are accusing me of things I am not even capable of doing.

It's probably just a specific server, and it's probably the server's fault.

Are you sure, because this happens at a fair bit of servers I join.
