Hmm, well last time I compiled them they worked nicely with everything except with Wine on BL. This could be of course just with AMD, as they have the worst drivers for linux ever. NVIDIA has nice drivers for linux, they even have built in temp readers which I think the Windows drivers do not have. Anyways, so do you have AMD or Nvidia? I know by heart how to compile the drivers the for AMD but I would assume its almost the same for NVIDIA.

I have nvidia. I have no idea how to compile drivers what so ever, I just want the mix of this (everything fixed) and the 313 binary drivers (polygons, polygons only)

That crappy OS (not ubuntu but Linux itself) is used by the astronauts in the International Space Station. It also powers Amazon, Twitter, Facebook...oh and you'd never guess, the Blockland website/master server. It's also used by Disney and Pixar to render things that were made in Maya/3DSMax such as the movie Shrek. So, before you come and tell someone an OS is crappy, look it up first.

How does windows force you to buy av software. Hint: It doesn't!

Also, linux might be extremely good for render farms or servers due to being lightweight, but that does not make it a good OS for a home computer.

First, switch back to the standard non-proprietary drivers that Ubuntu gives you and then restart your PC.

Im not sure with nvidia, you will need to lookup some guides but essentially what you download is a .run file (the same for AMD drivers). With that .run file downloaded, open up a terminal and navigate to where the .run file is (you can use the command cd and usually it will be in the Downloads folder so just do cd Downloads). Once there type "sudo ./NAMEOFFILEHERE.run" (without the quotes). You may run into some errors such as dependences which are usually libraries you need to install for the installer to work. Try and do that and see what happens.
