It would. Also, install the proprietary drivers for your video card if you haven't already. Issues arise in 3D applications when you use open-source drivers, like nouveau. If you're using an Intel GMA or the i915 driver, you won't need to install proprietary drivers for your video device.

oh, thank you for proving my point, turns out that more like 1/10 of games are compatible with it!
people like you or Zeblote (idc how you spell his name) immediately bring down an OS without even trying it, its obviously not going to get any better. Being optimistic and trying it out is what eventually will make it better.
my dad is a programmer who uses ubuntu, i had some experiences with it and some with linux and i find windows way easier to use

yeah try the proprietary nvidia drivers, and what version of Wine are you running?
"wine --version" in a terminal will tell you

1.6-rc4 is the latest version
