Are shadows and shaders cast by brick lights and player lights impossible?

The gpu ram is extremely important, if the shadow map doesn't fit in there your shadows won't run.

I've tested some stuff before and even with Shadows it seems that Blockland is more CPU intensive. I upgraded from a GTX 550 TI (1GB memory) to an AMD Radeon 7570 (3Gb memory) and I still lag on the same maps/saves that I did with the GTX 550Ti. I could be completely wrong which I think I am but from my tests I've done it seems that it's CPU intensive.
