Author Topic: So I decided to clean my CPU fan  (Read 2769 times)

i used my fingers to remove the dust that was only a small layer on the top of the thing.
peeled it off and blew on it a few times. as good as new.

I mean that looks like soot. The only other time I've seen that black dust is in my grandmothers computer fan, after her AC blew up and had stuff everywhere.

I have a black cat that spends most of his days in my room. I also OverClocked my CPU with a stock fan.

its nice knowing CPU fans can easily become ovens if left to overheat lol

i haven't cleaned my laptop's fan in 3 years, my computer overheats after 10 minutes of playing a game, wait till I take that out :3

any disk you pull out of there (if you can) should b a steaming hot puddle of lava ^

So you overclocked your intel CPU
with a stock fan...
with a cat in your room...
and you went for 8 months without cleaning it...

How has your CPU not burned out. Seems like you got incredibly lucky, what you did is very dumb

...Ummm 8 months without cleaning? When did I say that? Also my cat hasn't been in my room for 3 days, and I started OCing just yesterday (And stopped because of this).

So yeah

Post GPU please.

660 Ti. Don't know what my GPU has to do with my CPU?

No I wanted to know what GPU you had.
brb crying

That makes a bit more sense as to why nothing exploded. I got confused with somebody else saying 8 months. Revert your OC, just wait for your new cooler
It's not worth losing a CPU over a day or two of waiting for a new aftermarket fan

Why does almost every topic have to start with "So i"

"I decided to clean my CPU fan" sounds better
Well see if he just said the latter I would not have clicked the link.
The "So I" implies there is a punchline to beheld. Thus I clicked and then smirked. It wasn't that funny really but it was moreso than if he had just sad he cleaned it cause then I'd click it and go "well yeah, it's dirty". It doesn't seem as funny that way.

once it gets too hot it like shuts down like all the performance things and like limits everything to 2 fps, so it never actually gets to the point where anything would melt

mine used to get really overheated during hot days in the summer like it has been recently in uk, but i cleaned my fan and mobo of dust and put in new thermal paste and its not doing it anymore

I applied thermal paste.

All is well in the world.
