Honestly, I'd rather not have voice chat.
1. Obvious reasons of screaming childs
2. I don't like muting. Mainly cause they might say something important, and I wouldn't know.
3. No one would look at the chat as much, so they might miss something aswell.
Now watch as everyone screams at me for my opinion being different from theirs.

A default hatmod with a user friendly shop system would be fantastic, but I think you're asking too much.

I see what you mean, should someone host a Blockland Skype Hang out server and see how things work out? I could work out a server and I will try my best to avoid noobs or screaming children. The chat complaint however, the text is right there, and barely I miss anything that anyone says on any server.
