In TF2 the files are mostly open source and unencrypted, all you really have to do is make a new file in a folder and the game uses it instead of the old one.

I don't think it'll be the same with GTAV. Rockstar and Valve most likely package their stuff differently, you'll probably have to use official tools or decompilers.

we did the same thing with gta iv and it was the third most modded game ever.

uh, textures are locally stored files that unless you do checksums for everything or try and encrypt the local files (which seems ridiculous for textures) you can just replace them with your own.

hey i said its possible to detect them and block them, i never said that they will do something about it. unless it interferes with other peoples gameplay they wont care
