I don't think having a bridge to the Cornocopia would be a good idea, because it would leave the two players who's spawned closest to it the total advantage. Try having it so that everyone has an equal oppertonity to get to the center without having to go through people, like in the Books, just to make things more fair.
Also add water in places. Little ponds, a river perhaps. I can help build too, I've read all three books and seen the movie, I can recreate some ideal locations that were unique from the book, like the fire forest or add a lot of climbable trees.

Unfortunately life isn't fair. You can swim to the cornu-whatever almost as fast as you can run to it.
I would put in more water but modular terrain and water bricks don't actually work together.

There is a brickpack out there that has water able to fit in mod.
