or you could just make it singleplayer, with the option to join a hosted multiplayer game. that way you don't really have to pay to host large servers. It's probably not as fun, but it is cheaper to operate.

None of them do though.  I'm talking about MMOs, because they relies on microtransactions and subscriptions.  MMO servers take a lot more work than any other game.

The reason why lego "MMO's" fail is because they're "MMO's". They should be "MMORPG's".

I played LU in beta, and I didn't see it dying like this.

I didn't play enough of it to predict it I guess.
