Filipe:

A few weeks or months before an animated movie is released on the theaters, some publisher release a stuffty game out of it for every platform possible, hell even the DS suffers for that, seriously I just don't understand why, and they are getting worse and worse, is there even anyone who even buy those games? (except for they children)

Shell:

Because the movies are popular with kids, and kids like games. Kids ask mommy for the game after seeing the movie. They giggle for hours before realizing that it sucks and it collects dust.

It's not for people other than kids. It's directed towards kids.

Unless it's a cool game like The Incredibles. That was badass and it was for everybody.

All Nintendo consoles are suffering from stuffty barbie and movie games because those consoles aim to appeal to audiences of all ages.

The production costs for making decent video games has also been rising up drastically ever since 3D gaming was introduced. The reason why these movie games also suck aside from limited budgets is that they are rushed to meet the movie's release date. The third reason is that they are simple cash-ins that old senile grandmas buy for their kids.

Bushido:

the reason movies are released when they are is to allow for movie games (and other related merchandise) to come out around the same time, so people buy stuff based on hype from the movie. it's sort of like advertising

also movie games have always sucked. there's no heart put into them, they're just made to mooch off the movie's success. usually games that are made completely detached from a movie's release are fine though because there's actually thought being put into them

Bravo:

the jimmy neutron movie game was one of my favorites of all time
