I wasn't insulting him, it was an honest-to-god question.

if your computer can't run blockland, it's probably because you don't know how to optimize

Generally, the term "run" would mean running at an optimal framerate. How does one optimize a game like Blockland? On my old laptop, all my settings were ran at minimum, minimum view distance, LOD distance, everything. How much more optimized can that get? The problem is that it made absolutely no difference and I still had under 20 FPS even around 30k bricks. My old laptop had integrated graphics as well. The sad part is that it was from 2008.

The OS settings were set to minimum as well, all the flashy, useless effects were taken off and I always checked for any background processes that were taking up my CPU. Literally, I had Blockland running alone with absolutely nothing else open but the bare minimal programs to run my computer. Even that made no difference.

I really doubt you can run Blockland correctly on any computer that is not modern in the slightest. Hell, my newest computer is at least five times better than my original intel and it still runs Blockland with difficulty in the higher brick range - without shaders.

yes the shaders may be demanding
but guess what
YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE THEM
and yes your grandma's PC may not be able to handle 250,000 bricks
but guess what
no game can magically make a low end computer run at 500 FPS with that many objects

I don't run shaders, thanks for asking. The shaders are the most poorly optimized features of this game. I don't think I'll ever use them.

I've had to suffer through playing this game on a stuffty laptop for several years until recently, I got a new one. It's too bad I don't play the game as much as I used to. My current computer would've been useful ages ago. lol
Reindeer:
Shaders and shadows made Blockland a lot more presentable though, I'm sorry to say but we sort of did need it if we ever wanted to get onto a prestigious site like Steam Greenlight - and we did.
.::Taboo::.:
shaders are incredibly well optimized, but if a computer is garbage, a computer is garbage
"runs well" does not mean 60fps on a toaster, it means "20-30fps on a computer from within the last decade"

uh yes you can
my dad's ATI radeon 9800 will play blockland fine with no shaders and plenty of bricks
