It's definitely gotten more unaccepting, but it's generally always been like that, but in a more polite way.

There's been a few topics, most of the time the ALT ALT ALT part is just someone being sarcastic.

that's probably because you just mixed in with the community like a normal person, rather than creating a topic to announce your arrival because "everyone needs to know!!!"
