Aside from the background, the only thing it does is make golden cookies turn red and sometimes have negative effects. Not that big of a deal, and you can just spent the cookies for the elder pledge if you want to spend time clicking golden cookies.

i think the whole evil stuff kinda ruins the game. cookie clicker was supposed to be a little time waster thing to check back on, but then it tries to be cryptic and stuff and it kind of brings the whole thing down. i dont give a forget about evil grandmas and hellish happenings, i just want to make silly cookies. The fact it turns gold cookies bad just makes it even worse
