The Elder Scrolls Online is to have a subscription based model (which honestly I expected) however the game will also have an Item Shop for "fun things and vanity" which has me a bit concerned. I had planned to pick up the game on release but I'm not sure anymore, the sub to me means there wont be a cash shop, that everything will be in game, including vanity and things like name changes should in my opinion be either not possible, or limited in some way without the use of an item shop. http://www.mmorpg.com/newsroom.cfm/read/28426/Elder-Scrolls-Online-Item-Shop-News.html --- Quote ---ESO gets a classical subscription model. With the purchase of the game you get 30 days free game time, then the game will cost 12.99 euros per month. According to Matt Firor will be available in The Elder Scrolls Online an item shop, where her character fun items and services you can buy as a renaming of the character. The game and all its contents are however covered by the subscription model. The reason why the developers have opted for a subscription model that ESO should feel like a big sandbox. You shall pay without any barriers can enjoy all content. Matt Firor is also of the opinion that this model best fits the Elder Scrolls series. The developers have looked at many different payment models in advance and you can find free-to-play games are not inherently wrong. Matt Firor itself plays as World of Tanks and League of Legends. The development of ESO is almost complete and it will be no more new great features for the release implements. Now the systems are tested and improved in beta. Currently, the developers are busy building up the server environments and prepare for a large number of players. Finally, everything should run stable at launch. The contents of the release of The Elder Scrolls Online're done. Currently, the teams are busy but have to develop content for future patches. --- End quote --- What does everyone else think? I plan on staying away and waiting until I see what happens with the game after a few months. |

15$ per month is just insane. My interest totally disappeared when they announced the monthly fee. |

I don't like the idea of paying for a game...and then paying so I can play the game. But they have to make money. In my opinion if you're paying a sub you shouldn't have to buy the game as well. |

I was actually really happy when I found out there'd be a monthly fee because: less poor whingey kids less chance of some bullstuff microtransaction store but as we've found out, there's already a store so i'm out. that really kills it for me |

Killed any chance of me actually getting into it until it's been out and I see what direction the game takes. If for some reason they do away with the item shop or it really turns out to be extremely limited and not include things like outfits/exp/anything that can be sued to gain an advantage anywhere in the game. |
