Author Topic: How fast do you type?  (Read 9878 times)

2nd try.

Eat me, losers.  :
Typing is absolutely necessary. It opens countless doors in the professional world, and just being a good typer could land you a $90k/y job as a court reporter. I consider anything below 90WPM to be 'slow' and frankly I would never hire a secretary who couldn't score higher than 110 on a typing test.
according to Wikipedia, average professional typists type at 50-80 wpm.  Yeah, below 90 is loving slow, right?

Wikipedia can suck a richard. In my experience, most people talk at 120WPM, so good luck being a transcriptionist if the highest you can type is 80WPM.

That's a single job.  Most jobs that require you to type don't even involve dictation.

I'd imagine that when people say 'professional typers' they are referring to jobs that require strictly typing, as opposed to say, office jobs that only require typing for certain tasks.
