A few friends strongly suggested I get Ducktales Remastered and La-Mulana, decided to get them, thank you for your suggestions, everyone.

I'm sure all of these are based on personal preference, so I'd recommend Dark Souls. I had to use guides to complete my first playthrough and it still took almost 70 hours. I'm at around 230 hours and I've only completed the game twice. There is so much lore and other non-required that you won't see your first go around that it's always going to surprise you every time you play through. It's on amazon for around $8 right now iirc. I'd also recommend downloading DSfix to help with the controls on the PC version.

dark souls really isnt a game to buy unless you are a hardcore gamer and have a lot of time on your hands. its def not something you can just pick up and play like skyrim or something, it consumes way too much time.

skyrim's intro cutscene consumes way too much time and you can't skip it

It's his last new game for the year. He'll have plenty of time. The extent of my gaming experience before playing Dark Souls was playing coop with Atlas. Its hard but anyone can do it with enough work.
