--- Quote from: TheArmyGuy on September 07, 2013, 07:54:58 AM ---Can everyone stop getting angry at this thread for 'wanting maps back'? He's asking what the reason is that maps and shaders have something to do with eachother, he's not asking for maps back because he thinks shaders are bad or anything. He just wonders what the correlation between maps and shaders is, and why that they don't work together. He is aware of that, the not working together part. Stop posting links to previous versions, that's richardy. --- End quote --- ^This. Also, some of us (like myself) don't care as much about how the terrain looked; we cared about the gameplay. I love Heedicalking's TDM. But I loved it 10 times as much when it was located on Slopes. Terrains and interiors simply gave the game a different way to build dynamically. And whether you like it or not, it's the simple truth that it did often make gameplay better to things like CTF and TDMs. And don't say, "But it limits your creativity!" Well, sure there were servers that used the map as the build, so to speak. But when it really comes down to it, the level of creativity is up to the builder, not based on map usage. Anyway, some maps made it possible to be more creative than just building on flat ground. And don't forget the creative map makers either. If you want to just build something awesome, you don't need a map. But if you're just want a fun server to play on with some sort of minigame, using a map isn't a crime. Seriously... I won't argue about the fact that they were taken out. But don't hate on those who enjoyed the maps. I highly doubt that you guys were saying, before shaders were even known about, "I wish Badspot would hurry up and remove these maps." If any of you were, then I have no words. :/ (Also, they may not have been beautiful, but they weren't ugly - especially if textured and light mapped properly. They were definitely more visually pleasing that ModTer is.) |

"hacks" are still unpatched for months. zones, water, and modter still take up the same brick layer. cant type out https to form links no precipitation support in environment editor still crappy sound/music still limited events GUI (wheres the subinputs (onprojectilehit(arrow)?) have to ghost before you save, a pain for dealing with large builds. no floating brick terrain support (like how actual maps were) many of those could've been updated within a year's timeframe. terrain can't slow things down if there's nothing to slow down. --- End quote --- Maybe he's been working on implementing them over the past year and was planning to release something in August but he was occupied with ddos attacks? I see what you mean though, it has been a while. |
