I don't understand why maps were removed

"He doesn't think maps should have been removed therefore he's questioning the entire update"
Racerboy:
You guy are all saying stuff like it "slowed development" when you have no idea how it actually slowed it down.
We get that it slowed down development, that's the entire point of this topic. Why did it slow it down. So far no one has provided a straight answer. If terrain could be remade I think it would definitely be worth it in the long run.
And to those of you who think that this whole update is to "increase creativity", here's the fact of the matter: bricks suck richard. Especially with vehicles, and their collision in general.
Vehicles are also stuff but that's for another topic.

to all the people saying it hindered development, what have we gotten since the removal of maps? it's been a year now, and all i can think of is speedkart and bots, environmental controls, and some UI changes. i personally don't think the removal of maps was worth it.

rotondos been looking into vehicles. the problem is that a lot of these features like vehicles and interior maps were already available in torque engine so they just added them in as features and making them work better or work with other things is very difficult. it takes time to do some of this and sometimes theres no real way around it.

I kinda have to agree, say, look at all the people who dont have beast ass computers!
They dont even get shaders.
So this update for them was a UI change and removal of maps, they didnt even get the good peice.
I hate to say it, but I honestly do think some things that can be possible if badspot does a stuffload of work on blockland.
Here's a list of ideas? maybe?
- Make alternate brick textures compatible with your client so you see the brick textures that you put into your folder work on every server.
- Remove shaders, reimplement maps but make better textures for the maps so they dont look like stuff
- Removing shaders and putting maps back might make the community better?
Theres some ideas I came up with.
