Planets and asteroids can collide, but they just clip through each other. For real impacts, we'll have to wait for a future patch.

I like the idea a lot. In school, I'm taking astronomy among other topics this year so this will give me a better fundamental understanding on our universe. Is it completely free? I mean like no extra/in-game purchases.
