maybe. but no tv on earth has ever looked as good as a monitor. ever. thats a promise.
its not a settings issue. the tv just cant display games as nicely.

That's because
HDTVs are generally larger in terms of screen size, so 1080p is stretched to stuff and looks blurry.

The technology is the same. The difference is pixel density.

steam big picture improves this. but if it truly wasnt an issue. big picture and steamOS wouldn't even need to exist would they. we have always been capable of using the tv as a monitor.
Actually steam big picture is really just to make the ui larger and better for controllers for sitting far away and not using a keyboard and mouse.  Other than that, nothing changes.  The steambox push is for consoles to be more open/upgradable while using standard pc apis and the steam community/store.

Why are they working on this and not Half-Life 3? I mean seriously. No one asked for this but millions of people are asking for the new Half-Life right now. What the forget valve.

The longer they delay Half Life 3, the more of a hype explosion there will be when they announce it and the more people will buy it.

I cringed at this post

my 27inch monitor look better then my friend's 24 inch tv on his computer. we are both running 1080 and playing the same distance from our face.

this has been consistent with every tv being used that i have ever encountered.
maybe its just the stuffty response time tvs have. that usually affects txt.

the best existing tvs to date have like an "impressive" 19ms input lag and 8ms response time. and these are 3+grand plasmas.

compared to several monitor models with a 1.2ms input and >1ms response

and no neither of these specs are refresh rate, that basically is an unimportant spec for either tv or monitor.

But if they wait too long people will forget about it. At this point HL3 has become a joke whenever there's an ARG. If it came out now the internet will explode. It would also be funny because it would take the records GTA V set and smash them against the remains of the runescape community.

Half-life 3 wouldn't be able to sell as well as GTA V just because people's expectations for the next installment are too high.

they could pull a duke nukem thing. make people wait so long that the only people who even want it are the last (2 gens ago) fans, that will slowly stop caring.

Or they could make half life 3 a satire of the series to the point of the whole "so bad that it's fun" rule

Well hey, atleast when Microsoft start's to make terrible operation systems or abandons the desktop market in favor of tablets we have something to fall back on.
