Not really, depending on where you look. I found two pretty good deals, both sub-$5000. And both sub-100k miles

Dionysusan:

okay so i have no idea why the sound is not synced with the video (you can tell when the pipes start to puff smoke) but how do you guys like the sound?

its puffing white smoke because i have seafom running through the carburetor as one of many attempts to fix cylinder 6 (still has a skip)

$trinick:

Sounds like it wouldn't pass smog. Also the audio is synced for me.

--- Quote from: Barnabas on July 21, 2015, 11:50:02 AM ---These are useful little things in flat places. Also, it's Austrian so it's not probably not put together haphazardly.

I live in the Midwest US where it's generally flat. I live in sort of a river valley and it struggles a bit with the hills but it's perfect for basic errands and I love the look of it. I only paid $300 for it. I had to do a bit of work on it already since it kept killing itself whenever I touched the horn button wrong and wouldn't start often when it was shut off but we got it figured out, turns out the horn lever kept grounding out on the handlebar. Kind of weird but glad to have it back. I've put about 90 miles on it since Sunday already. Waaay more convenient than a car. Also insanely fuel efficient.

--- End quote ---

I've used Bondo on my Oldsmobile. It'll look better than rust but it's hard to get it looking really good again, imo. We used it and then just rattle-canned the paint which returned the area to flat black to match the car but it looked like stuff in the sunlight. Also IIRC you live in a place where they salt the streets (which can be assumed if the car is rusting anyway) so I wouldn't bother as Bondo is porous and will bubble in the winter months again most likely. There are alternatives, live I had mine redone at a shop where he used fiberglass resin, which looked much better, but you could still tell the body wasn't quite right there, and the paint used also started to bubble.

I would almost recommend if you're interested in keeping the car to just look into getting it professionally fixed with new sheet metal. It definitely won't be cheap, and may not be worth it, but it would look best.

Beautiful car man. Never been a fan of the sticker placement you have, but sharp nonetheless.

Probably a 2.9L stick., but they're not easy to find cheap. Realistically is probably have to settle with a 2.3L or 2.5L engine

I don't mind the car I guess but it would be painfully expensive to get any work done on it and if you're far from a shop that will work on it it would be annoying to deal with.

I like it. It's appropriate for an El Camino but not obnoxious.
