My gas gauge has always worked perfectly in every car I've ever driven. I mean, there's usually a reserve of gas after you hit empty, but I've never had an issue with running out of gas before hitting empty.

Ours doesn't have a reserve tank, just the standard toyota corolla gas tank

Huh? I don't mean a separate tank for a reserve, I mean like.. the gas gauge will hit empty at ~1gal left.

So, I want to get a job and buy an NA Mazda Miata, but I'm not sure how my parents would react to it. They already let me use their Toyota Yaris as a daily, but I want something I can learn how to work on cars with, and something a bit more fun.

I get really antsy when my gas warning light comes on because it keeps turning off and then dinging back on again. I think the car keeps interpreting inappropriate fuel readings so once it starts to hit the threshold that triggers the light, it takes readings on either side of the threshold causing it to keep dinging on and off.

There's two Miatas that I'm aware of at my college. One is bright blue with a beige top and looks rather ugly. The other is a pristine silver hardtop that actually looks pretty nice. It's like this image here except it's the next generation with the fixed headlights.
