--- Quote from: Marcem on October 04, 2013, 09:53:05 PM ---I am in fact speaking with you "peasants". This discussion is in fact off topic, so why did you bring it up? My point with that last post wasn't to wag my richard around, it was to prove that shaders really don't take away from blockland's performance. Also you just called me an starfish so I should also make a post about how you're an a high horse because you hurt my feelings and I feel bad now --- End quote --- Nevermind, you're clearly trolling, trying to get another response from me. I'm going to end this, I hope others take the example. Lets get back on topic. |

again --- Quote from: Marcem on October 04, 2013, 09:18:38 PM ---Read this sentence once. It's so loving dumb I cannot comprehend it. How is something an issue with a game that's not in it?! --- End quote --- it might sound "dumb", but it's completely true. i don't understand what you can't comprehend. the things i listed are issues with the game. Bricks, culled or not, need to be saved, ghosted, and loaded. They still take up brickcount. to cull, you also assume all terrain magically lines up with the supports and everything works out fine. Supports take up a huge chunk of bricks. I could show you have much more helpful just adding some simple support for floating bricks would be. you cant just magically extend supports for bricks that don't line up to a Z cube grid. supports for slight hills and slopes take more than just a 16x cube underneath. it's a huge chunk of the brickcount gone to waste. --- Quote from: Marcem on October 04, 2013, 09:18:38 PM ---Yes, you can drive through bricks, so why don't we spend this time improving the vehicle physics and not adding an entire new terrain system? --- End quote --- why is this black or white? why not work on one, and then the other? its called a priority list. just because the vehicle physics need improvement doesn't mean the idea for a brick-terrain system should be axed. just because vehicle physics take priority over brick terrain system doesn't make anything i said any less valid. --- Quote from: Marcem on October 04, 2013, 09:18:38 PM ---Why are you trying to use the word "efficient" against me so much? Are you trying to say that I was wrong in saying that the old terrain system wasn't efficient? Because I mean performance. --- End quote --- it was efficient in performance in terms of management and FPS compared to a large scale brick terrain. Terrain was efficient to host on. It didn't have to be saved or loaded or ghosted, you could place a couple of bricks on it and it would work fine. I'm not using "efficient" again you, i don't even care about being against you. i don't even care about who you are. Efficiency as in easier to work with, faster, more user friendly, less of a hassle. --- Quote from: Marcem on October 04, 2013, 09:18:38 PM ---Lastly, bitching at badspot that his update sucked and requesting him to put features back in isn't a suggestion. --- End quote --- for the last god-damn time, i'm not requesting him to put things BACK IN. i'm requesting he add NEW THINGS to fix/improve on what we currently have. get that through your head, dork. i'm not talking about old terrain or bringing it back. i'm referencing what I think was good about the old terrain and what it did better than bricks, and what could be improved upon now to make the systems we have better. just because i say "terrain was efficient because it had tools to easily edit it, making it much faster to create a map in terrain than with bricks" doesn't mean i support everything about terrain. what i would support would be something like taking what made terrain editing efficient (brushes) and applying it to the bricks we have now. Make it so you can generate a nice 1024x1024 plane of 4x cubes, and use brushes to shape some land, then go in and edit it. this idea has NOTHING to do with putting in old terrain or bringing back outdated things. It's about taking an efficient concept that's been used by people for years (brush terraforming), and applying it to the bricks we have. the rest of you, shut up. stop coming in acting like your so much smarter all "marcem... seriously stop.....". don't threaten to "drama" him, hes not doing anything wrong, he discussing the topic. boo hoo, he forgot to say please and thank you. if you're looking for a hugbox, go to reddit or something. hes contributing more to discussion through his lame points than you are telling him to stop. |
