Fullscreen is horrible for alt-tabbing so I do 1920x1080 or 1600x900 windowed borderless.  Not until that long ago did I realize that you could have higher than 1440x900 windowed by using borderless.

the best existing monitor is some Asus one (the best specs)
the 27inch version is only 260 bucks or so.

1440x900, because that's the maximum resolution Blockland goes to.
But for other stuff, I use 1680x1050.
