Author Topic: What makes for a good jail escape? NEW POLL  (Read 6354 times)

That's understandable, but the way my prison is made thus far, that isn't possible with mine. Guards have access to the same locations that prisoners have access to, but I'm gonna see if I can make some areas for prisoners only.

That and it wouldn't make sense to do that with a lunar prison. Where would the prisoners run to? They have to get a rocket or a pod of some kind

"good" and "jail escape" are mutually exclusive.

Well for starters not laying weapons out on the floor for the prisoners to take.

please no guns in the toilet and convenient clickable vents

please no guns in the toilet and convenient clickable vents
No guns in toilets, however there is one vent. But considering that's the only vent and it goes from the cell to a certain room that I don't wanna give away that has no WEAPONS, I think it's pretty well balanced.

There ARE tunnels though. I'm seeing about making them prisoner only

man pay attention

what barn is saying is that you need to explicitly limit the areas where combat can happen to where places prisoners are not allowed to be in the first place and have it completely OK for prisoners to be shot whenever the forget if a guard comes across them

that's how pload did it

the twist is that pload didn't make it so that guards and prisoners occupy the same space basically at all, and made it so guards are extremely limited in where they can go while prisoners are able to amble around wherever they want as long as the guards can't see them

basically prisoners are to be killed on sight at all times because if they're in an area where guards are physically able to reach and thus shoot them they are already not supposed to be there

like, here is an example. suppose guards are allowed to roam around the outside of the prison yard but explicitly cannot get into the main facility, but prisoners have to cross the yard (which is big and is very hard to be completely 100% guarded anyway) in order to escape the prison

thus the game stops involving free killing at all (qualifying it as a jail rp) and starts involving people trying to figure out how to cross the yard without getting spotted by guards (making it an actual jail escape)
I would host this if I had his build.

I would host this if I had his build.
Who's "his" in this instance
Cause if it's me no you wouldn't lol, you would have to scrap the entire build and re-do the corridors/hallways. Which would mean you wouldn't have my build.

good luck

he had custom weapons i think

Another way of solving free-killing without making too many changes to your current map would simply involve changing the background story (if you had any).

Let's imagine there was some sort of a malfunction in the prison (some parts were hit by an minor meteor, or whatever) which caused a lockdown. That would mean any prisoner outside their cell would be a fair kill. Also, that way you can introduce potentially lethal areas for both teams.

I just generally don't like the idea of cells being the ONLY safe zone.. That's really restricting and makes it difficult to really have it be an "escape," especially if the prisoners are being camped with guards watching all the cells.

I do plan to make guard-only zones, but there won't be anything like a court yard you run across to get through the only gate or something
sneak peak of the day:

Sorry for the late picture, I'll post two today, the new one will be later tonight

Poll updated, here's another sneak peak picture, the WIP messhall!

Newest poll: how long should each round last?
This does not include if an entire team dies (for instance, if the prisoners riot and all guards die, then the round is cut short.)
While traditionally people decide how long a round lasts based upon playercount and size of the map, generally, I want to know what most of you expect.
Maybe even throw in another idea, say "1 minute PER person on the server"

someone should make a jail escape where the entire power for the jail is down and there's no lights at all.

more focus on non-existant stealth and ambushes

Lol did anyone else see Mr.Queeba's server?

I don't mean to sound negative, or condescending, but guys... stop applying for admin. This isn't even a jail RP. This took him all of like half an hour to make.

There is nothing attractive about this server. At all.
Did I mention it doesn't work either? If all the prisoners die, because there are two teams (one green team with pushbrooms, the other team is guards with a big doinky key and a pistol), nothing happens. 1 of the 3 teams needs to win.

Was gonna post that but the topic ended up locking... This would be the kind of server that could use some advice from this topic/discussion.

lol yeah I played for a minute or two. As soon as a guard gets you out you can win in 20 seconds. He also had a topic to sign up as a admin of moderator or something silly like that.

Daily update + sneak peak, new poll too!

New poll:
Where should the most emphasis be on a jail escape? Team interaction? Hidden secrets? Lots of traveling around? /discuss por favor
This will probably be the last poll I make, then I will move all future sneak peaks to a gallery topic. However, this topic will stay unlocked.
