Maybe that particular mod didn't touch the buttons?

if you click the link it has pictures with the buttons changed etc etc. I cannot locate them to change my buttons :(

ahh this is bugging me :/

Since I cannot find the buttons for the life of me (I thought it was shell32 but it's not) so could anyone link me to a windows 8 button theme?

my windows 7 theme changes the buttons, and every other theme i've tried does. it's your theme specifically

your theme doesn't even look like it changed anything

It  basically changed the colours and I had to change the start button, picture/frame. Could you link me to your win7 to win8 look.

Out of curiosity, have you restarted your PC since installing this theme?

yeah like 3 times, because of other things needing to be installed.

Hmm, I remember having issues like this when I tried to install my theme but I don't remember how I got it working.
Did the installation instructions mention anything about needing to patch your system?

for the boot screen but nothing else, (I don't want the boot screen)

Those are from two folders.

My theme required that I patch my system with a universal ux theme patcher. Might be the same for yours

if you forget up, force shut down and when windows is starting force shutdown again, the second time it starts you will have an option to go into repair mode and hopefully that can fix anything you might have messed up

Or, you know, you could do what everyone else has said and make backups of the files you're replacing
