Author Topic: Pellet gun need  (Read 2124 times)

im getting a rifle for a 9yo kid for christmas.
hes old enough for a real rifle, but hes a gun noob and i figured it best he get one of these realism-toys first lol.
(as apposed to all the stupid water and foam dart guns hes already got)

i assume an air pellet gun is preferred? bb guns are kinda gay i thought.

anyways. what do you guys know of. preferably name brand.

I suggest a Daisy pellet gun. A lot of them shoot bb's and pellets.

why not a red ryder air gun
they're really fun, don't need CO2, and can fire both bbs and pellets

yeah basically what alyx said

The lead pellets will make you handicapped.
Just btw

Well if you want to go cheap I know a rifle that shoots bbs and pellets. Remington Airmaster .177 which is essentially a smooth bore barreled version of the Crosman 2100 painted black.
You can find these are Walmart for cheap prices, comes with a cheap scope that isn't all that great. It might be a little heavy and a long for his arms. If want something rifled instead of smoothbore than go with the Crosman 2100.

They make pellets out of other materials besides lead now days, it's just that lead is more common. I rarely lead when it comes to shooting since I don't want that stuff bleeding into the ground over time.

Get something by Daisy or Crossman.

I have had good experiences with both companies.

Crossman is pretty good too, I've just always been a daisy guy myself. I've only had 1 daisy break on me, and it was because I got a cheaply made one. $50 for a pellet gun will not give quality

I've only had a crosman an and that is the Remington variant, it still works to this day.

aren't you afraid that he'll shoot his eye out?

Its kinda hard to shoot your eye out with a pellet gun, unless you're straight up like "Hey I'm gonna look down the barrel with my finger on the trigger"

Many companies make glasses for eye protection

Never point a gun at people
always assume a gun is loaded
those are the rules I live by

I have a good old Red Rider 70th anniversary edition

I can give it to you cheap for $20 bux

I got my first bb gun when I was 9 years old and I still have both eyes.
