PBG accidentally revealed on a livestream that Jon moved to New York, and his girlfriend was there, so I'm assuming the girlfriend thing is the truth.
I imagine the secrecy is just to separate his private and professional lives.

here's what i think happened
we all know that gamegrumps got pretty real during like, it's 1st anniversary, they had the talks about meeting with a financial advisor, and monetization, and how GG was like their careers. then jontron's girlfriend moves to new york, and jontron wants to follow, but there's a big falling out because jontron is essentially choosing his girlfriend and jontron over GG, and while i'm not saying jon's in the wrong, there's obviously going to be fallout because of this. Arin is also a really high strung guy, so there probably was a big conflict, and jon leaves mad, but since they're adults, they don't just say "WE HATE EACHOTHER", but rather jon says he's moving to work on jontron, to avoid a conflict, and yet jon is still resentful, which is why he's always ABOUT to tell us what happened.
