If you want a bit more of an explanation, gentoo takes ages to install & compile itself and the prerequisites for a lot of other stuff, however, after that, it can easily be one of the fastest linux distros out there due to how nearly everything is compiled for YOUR system.

I've had the exact same issue, I ran a chkdsk and defrag and it fixed it
either then that, probably check old bsod's and see if anythings defective like ram
