Do you think college is worth it for a bachelors degree?

Yes, always
majority of the time
depends on what you wanna do
not really, maybe occasionally
Nope.

Going to a trade school is also definitely a good route because the school more often than not have connections to the careers you want to get into, and can usually drop right into your career plan. I want to go to CalArts, which I have heard that 98% of graduates drop into their career straight out.

Go to college to acquire specific knowledge, not some general subject. Figure out what job you want in the future and see what it requires.

Getting a degree without knowing what you're getting it for is a horrible plan.

I'm 19, didn't go to university and I already own a house, definitely pointless.

this is interesting. since you didn't elaborate, i imagined a bunch of scenarios where that'd be possible and none of them were very flattering

If you wouldn't mind giving further detail (for science) that would be greatly appreciated
for instance, what you do for a living, how long you've done it for, pay range (if you're comfortable with that), etc
as well as maybe the cost of the house for perspective on spending to earning

college is worth it if you do something that pays well.

art does not pay well
design does not pay well
make up does not pay well

engineering pays well
technology pays well
mathematics pays well

I hope to be a robotics and weapons engineer so I can combine the two

robutts with RPGs and machine guns
forget yes

lemme pose this question, and I'll put this in the OP when it gets updated:
I have certifications with industrial-grade software (photoshop, illustrator, etc, aka adobe products)
I'm an eagle scout
I've got more service hours to my community than I can try to keep track of.

Would that already not be a substantial ammount compared to your average college grad that just waves a sheet of paper titled 'diploma' in your face?

Having a slip of paper to wave around showing your credentials of what you COULD do vs actual Experience DOING.

This is why Apprenticeships are so much better

She's right, attending and completing college can open up a variety of many jobs, maybe even some really high-paying ones.
wow i didnt know this!
thanks setro!

the solution to this is not to take useless majors
like political science, philosophy, stuff like that

Honestly it's easy to get through even STEM programs and still have no marketable skills or experience. If you just coast through your classes and don't take the opportunity to work on things outside of classes and network then you're not any better than when you started but do have the piece of paper still.

I plan to go to a university getting a bachelors (maybe another type idk) in psychology and/or psychiatry. I've heard getting a degree in psychology though is broader though and not as "prestigious"

It is, but it also depends on what you want to do in life. If you are going to go to college just for self-gain or just because your parents forced you to, then it's not worth it. I want to be a real estate broker, psycho-brown townysis or potentially a glaciologist, and both require college educations. Not really a real estate broker, but you need some education in finance and business.

You know a lot of people do internships during the summer.

So "slip of paper" and experience > experience

Some jobs its nearly impossible to get without a degree.
