We tried using HTTPS, it was blocked. We'd probably get in much more trouble by using Tor, and it will probably be downloaded. The filter goes over the internet, not the computers. It applies to people phones too.

Then only access content you know is SFW and won't get you into trouble, like if you really need the content from a site for school work.
Plus, check your school's network policy. If it doesn't mention anything about 3rd party content, the use of proxies (or bouncers); use it as your defense if you get caught and get into trouble.
