Author Topic: What happened to RTB?  (Read 7616 times)

that's the important catch heed- once it hits this point, he's actually committing a crime, and there are actually laws in place to stop him
can you cite the law that is being broken? can you cite the punishments? (actually want to know)
Spastic kids gonna be spastic kids, nothing to be done.
this kind of "oh well" attitude aggravates me so much. it aggravates me because it's true, there is nothing to be done. the only thing that can be done is just sit here and wait. there's nothing preventing us from being victims of stuff like this again and again.

Ephi has done nothing wrong

I have yet to see any strong evidence at all that this is Hammer's work. If someone can give me a link ill change my opinion, but with what i've seen, its much more likely Okiver, as there's two (or perhaps one claiming to be two) people both with evidence that it is Okiver.

Also, i'm not sure if Hammer did attack something else, but i've heard a lot of people say that hes admitted to it, but even so I doubt he would do it again after finding that everyone worked it out so easily, and he got banned from it as a result.

Alternatively, although I may be wrong here and I personally have no evidence to support this, Okiver has attacked the master server and RTB multiple times, he doesn't use the forums or the game (as far as I know), so he wouldn't have much of a reason not to do it. And with Hammer's recent admittance it would be a great time to attack. However, he would be a pretty good scapegoat (I think thats the right word i'm thinking of, someone to dump the blame onto), so I could be wrong.

Im kinda friendly with Hammer, and from what i've seen and heard from him, I honestly cant see him doing this. The first attack, maybe. Lots of people do something dumb for 'lulz' or out of rage, then later regret it.

Against all this though, the HamHost servers have been attacked a few times before. With what Hammer might of said on that forum somewhere about testing a program against his own servers, it could be that hes doing his own attacks, then trying to blame Ephialtes or Lub/Rub/Whatever hes called now-a-days.

Wikipedia points to 18 USC § 1030. I tried to read it but damn... Are humans actually understand to read that?

I read it. It pretains to hacking and fraud.

Here: http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1030

It basically says if you accessed a secured computer without authorization and that computer is certified to hold personal data and/or classified/protected data you're breaking the law and are entitled to a fine, imprisonment depending on your motives and how you did it, or both.

That's the gist. A lot of it is about people who hack computers to blackmail and emotionally harm people e.g. section (a), (7) and people who hack computers to get money e.g. section (a) (4)

The one thing I can see us getting him with is section (a) part (5) - accessing a protected computer with intent to cause harm/damage to the computer and subsequently causing loss (does not define what type of loss. Money? Data? This is the important bit. Also, possible bonus prison years if the attack can be described as "reckless")

There's probably other sections more targeted towards DDoS attacks. This is mainly about unauthorized access, like I said. And I could easily be wrong.

Locking all threads relating to dosing/speculation/e-lawyering now. Giving attention to these idiots is a waste of everyone's time.
