Okay so you didn't give them out. Which strengthens my resolve for this debate even further. You have been wronged by the entitled community.

Here's a great example of when Private add-ons should be frowned upon.
Port made soft shadows. Originally not planning to release them (Not publically stated)
She made a thread showing them off to people.
People complained, for good reason. The thread's purpose was to rub it into people's faces.
Finally Port released them.
Should Port be forced to release them? No.
But rubbing them into people's faces isn't cool either.
Btw like 90% of blockland players don't even have good enough computers to run shaders above OFF anyways.
But besides my point.

Not really. You can have all the richards and 'rape-mods' you want on your server, it doesn't help unless if it's contributing to the game that you're making, which even then only serves to make whatever you're making more convinient/variated.
If I host a free build server and have a bunch of 'unique' add-ons; it won't make much of a difference. The most popular servers have barely any unique playertypes/weapons/servermods, and coincidentally the people that play on them don't go there for the add-ons, they go there to play the game.
DiceyGrammar:
i still really want to know how people are pulling models from the cache now
to me that should work on the same basis as 'build stealing' - if you don't want people using your creative assets in their own servers, you shouldn't be hosting it in public
The Resonte!:
believe or not, there are great unique servers that doesn't have personal add-ons
